St. Lucia, <strong>Helen of the West Indies</strong>, considered
one of the most beautiful islands of the Caribbean, is the second largest
of the Windward Islands (Minor Antilles).<br>
It is located in the middle of the Eastern Caribbean chain of Islands, approximately
21 miles south of Martinique, 90 miles north-west of Barbados, with an area
of 238 square miles. <br>
Castries (population 50.000) is the Island’s Capital and is situated
on the North-West part of the Island.

Kitesurfing Area St. Lucia
The kite area is located at Anse de Sables, leeward of the windsurfing area, 100 meters from Tornado Center.
The steady Trade wind blows unobstructed side shore from the left. The peninsula of Moule a'Chique, which borders the "sickle" shaped beach prevents any kiter from drifting off.
Kite Beach (Kite Spot)
It is in a typically Caribbean environment that Tornado Kite Center has found the ideal spot to enjoy kite surfing in "FREEDOM".
The spot, located 2 bays upwind of the Center, is easily reachable by a 25 minute walk along the beach or a 10 minute drive.
Tornado Center organizes regular transfers to the spot.
Steady side-on-shore wind conditions, flat and shallow water inside the reef (breaking waves on the reef 600m out ), waveless launches, make our "UNCROWDED" kite beach a perfect spot for beginners as well as for advanced riders who want to enjoy kiting in "FREEDOM".
The sandy beach and under water bottom can make you "forget" your shoes at home.
Tornado Kite Center is stocked with the latest Cabrinha boards and kites and offers courses for all levels, rental and storage service.

The windsurfing spot
The windsurfing spot is located at Anse de Sables (Vieux Fort), better known as Sandy Beach, in the South of the island, only 5 minutes drive from Hewanorra International airport.
Sandy Beach stretches for about 2 km length. The steady Trade wind blows unobstructed side shore from the left. On the leeward side, the peninsula of Moule a' Chique borders the "sickle" shaped beach preventing windsurfers from drifting off.
On the windward side, the bay is protected from the Atlantic Ocean swell by the reef and the two Maria Islands.
Yet there is access to open sea; the windsurfing conditions depend on the Atlantic wave and on the strength and direction of the prevailing wind (NE-SE)
We can distinguish 2 sailing areas located at the windward and leeward side of the surf center:
(1) Flat Water:
Perfect slalom conditions with about 40m standing area.
(2) Choppy water:
Perfect jumping or wave riding conditions thanks to the ocean swell which can reach 1.5 - 2m.
For the "freaks", keen on high waves (up to 4 m) there is the possibility of a third area, windward side of the surf center, in front of the reef.
The surf conditions in this area are "on shore" and because of the presence of the reef, excellent windsurfing skills are required.
Generally, the suitability suggested, concerning the different areas, is intermediate and above.
What about the shorebreak? You don't have to worry about it! In front of Tornado Center, it very seldom reaches 1 meter or more.
Most of the windsurfers who visit us are able to handle it very easily.
For those of you who might have problems with the shorebreak, the Tornado Center team is always ready to give instructions to handle it.
One thing which will make all the windsurfers happy: the underwater bottom and the beach are free of stones, corals and sea urchins, so. you can "forget"your shoes at home!

We are looking for motivated and outgoing kiting and windsurfing instructors to join our Team
- Kiting: Licensed and experienced IKO instructors (or equivalent).
Windsurfing:
Licensed VDWS / RYA... and experienced instructor skilled in basic "freestyle" maneuvers.
- Languages, spoken at a good level, at least: English/French/ German
- Experience in the following areas: customers service, maintenance, repair, care of equipment and center organization.
- Driving license
